ECDA Indirect Assessment Methods - Limitations and Resolution in Presence of Dynamic Stray Currents

Mark Yunovich, Honeywell International, Inc.

External corrosion direct assessment process (ECDA) implemented in accordance with the NACE Recommended Practice RP0502-02 relies on above ground DA techniques to prioritize locations at risk for corrosion. Frequently, common ECDA techniques (such as CIS, DCVG) are conducted in the locations affected by stray currents.  The paper investigates the limitations to applicability of the CIS and DCVG techniques under stray current conditions.
