For designing cathodic protection (CP) of Oil & Gas deep well casings, current requirement is often based on surface E logI measurements. This can be advantageously completed by CPET (Corrosion Protection Evaluation Tool) logs. Nonetheless those logs can not be performed on every well when hundreds of wells need to be protected on large fields. 3D CP simulation is consequently of main interest in this situation: by comparing modelling results to surface E logI measurements and CPET logs on specific wells, it allows the design of the CP for the whole field to be properly determined. This paper presents such a study which has been performed for the Dukhan field operated by Qatar Petroleum.
