Specimen Type and Test Protocol for Corrosion Performance Characterization of Reinforced Concrete Marine Pilings

William H. Hartt and Russell Tanner, Florida Atlantic University

A series of experiments was performed on both simulated bridge pilings and galvanostatically polarized ponded reinforced concrete specimens.  Attempts were made to relate the critical chloride concentration for corrosion initiation and time-to-corrosion to potential profile along the pilings.  The results are discussed within the context of durability of marine bridge substructure elements.
