A Method to Reduce the Internal Current Effect on Corrosion Rate Measurements with Coupled Multielectrode Array Sensors

Lie Yang and Xiaodong Sun, Corr Instruments, LLC

Coupled multielectrode array sensors rely on the measurment of the external current that flows from the most corroding electrode to the coupling joint. In cases where general corrosion is predominent, some curents on the most corroding electrode flow internally and the corrosion rate measured by the coupled multielectrode array sensor may under estimate the corrosion rate. This paper dscribes a method that reduce the internal current effect on corrosion rate measurements with coupled multielectrode array sensors
