We have developed a new Ni-base alloy to resist metal dusting corrosion that may occur in carbonaceous environments at intermediate temperature, for example, in steam reforming units producing a synthetic gas to convert to ammonia, methanol, and gas to liquids. The alloy based on Alloy690 (30%Cr-60%Ni) contains a proper content of Cu which greatly restrains an interaction between metal and CO molecule on the metal surface. In this presentation, we intend to introduce the result of long-term metal dusting test in a laboratory simulated gas mixture at 650 degree-C at ambient pressure. It was demonstrated that the developed alloy had no pit after an exposure of 15,000h, while conventional Ni-base alloys had several pits in a relatively short time.
