Abstract This paper intends to describe in detail a corrosion problem observed in the Amine Regenerating column in Amine Treatment Unit at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) Mumbai Refinery. Leak was observed in the tell tale hole of the patches welded. Besides, general corrosion of the column shell had taken place due to acid gas break out inside the column which resulted in highly accelerated corrosion. The study also discusses the probable causes of such corrosion attack, and likely remedies to control corrosion of such equipment. An insight has also been given to the adopted Corrosion Mitigation Strategy for the said problem.

Key Words: Ammine Regenerator Column, DEA, Acid gas
