Nanotechnology is providing unique and enhanced benefits to a wide range of applications, including corrosion mitigation.  The development of a structured approach to nanotechnology solutions will assist Army future forces overcome corrosion problems.  These solutions will provide a roadmap for the Army logistics community to engage in opportunities to achieve a long-term, coordinated approach to combating corrosion.  Such an integrated approach across policy, procedure, research and development, and acquisition will better utilize Army resources and technology to fight corrosion.  The results of the first phase of this effort will be presented.  The state of nanotechnology corrosion R&D, across key topic and application areas, will be provided.  Existing and emerging commercial nanotechnology corrosion products will be highlighted.  Trade-off analyses between nanotechnology and conventional corrosion technology options will be discussed.  Finally, future plans for the second phase of the effort will be presented, including platform-specific technical/business case analyses and roadmap development activities.
