For equipment located in marine and other high salt exposure environments, using an application-specific formulated salt removing product can produce economical benefits, as well as provide corrosion control where salt causes damage. Tests of some products in this classification for salt removing applications were conducted and the results show the efficacy and economy desired, particularly when ISO Standard 8502-6 (Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products - Tests for the assessment of surface cleanliness - Part 6: Extraction of soluble contaminants for analysis - The Bresle method) was used as one of the testing methods. Titration methods were used in other salt removing tests and the results provide additional information from which economical benefits and desired corrosion control of salt exposure can be concluded.
