This study aimed at assessing the mechanical properties of tubing operating under elevated temperature conditions. Hot tensile (standard ASTM-E 21) and creep (standard ASTM-E 139) measurements were made in tubing of two alloys (A268/Tp 446 and APM) at different strain rates and temperatures. Each of these data sets has been separately analyzed according to their own methodologies. The method employed for extrapolation of the creep results was Larson – Miller method. Hot tensile and creep testing allowed to proving that steel is superior to the A268/Tp 446 steel under elevated temperature conditions, both for short and long testing times.
