Quantifying the Corrosion Life Environment of U.S. Marine Corps Tactical Vehicles

Mr. Andrew Sheetz, Naval Surface Warfare Center; Alicia Field, NSWC Carderock Division; Matthew Koch, NSWCCD; Anthony T. Eng, Naval Surface Warefare Center

The Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center conducted a Research and Development program funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Total Ownership Cost Reduction Future Naval Capability (TOCR-FNC) for the United States Marine Corps (USMC).  This program was aimed at reducing corrosion of combat and tactical equipment and associated maintenance burdens through the development of USMC acquisition specifications related to corrosion control.  In order to support these acquisition specification development efforts an overarching task, Fleet Tracking, was undertaken to quantify the corrosion environment of the Marines Corps vehicles.
