8089 The Annual Cost of Corrosion for DoD

Corrosion—Identifying High Corrosion Cost Drivers and the Services’ Actions to Mitigate Them

DoD has completed the first round of its cost of corrosion baseline studies and determined that approximated $20B is expended annually to prevent or mitigate corrosion. The Services, in response, have taken the results and are applying specific actions to reduce corrosion—thus limiting costs and increasing materiel availability. This session provides details of the corrosion costs (including the methodology to arrive at them) and the specific actions taken by each of the Services.

Participate in discussions with senior OSD and Service corrosion managers in understanding current corrosion cost initiatives and offering recommended solutions to on-going issues.
