20135 A Comparative Study on Corrosion Resistance Evaluation Techniques for Ecoated Magnesium Alloys

A comparison is carried out on coated Mg alloys between an AC/DC/AC coating corrosion performance evaluation technique and the traditional ASTM standard salt spray method and AC impedance measurement.  The AC/DC/AC technique is proved to successfully evaluate the corrosion performance of the coated Mg alloys in a much shorter testing time than the standard salt spray and AC impedance measurements. The coating corrosion performance ranked by the AC/DC/AC technique well matches that obtained by the standard salt spray test.
