The use of climate control is commonly perceived as an additional cost and necessary only when weather is not conducive to good painting practices. The reality is that providing optimum conditions for surface preparation and coating application will most often improve the quality and performance of the coating therefore extending its service life. This paper will detail and quantify the impact that a controlled environment can have on tank linings. Discussion will also include the specific parameters that are critical to success and those that have the most impact on service life. The listener will leave with a better understanding and a framework to plan their project or write their specification in a way that will have a positive impact on coating longevity.
