Results of a six year study in which concrete specimens with different corrosion resistant alloys, including Types 316, 304, 2304, 2201, and 3Cr12 stainless steels, clad stainless steel bars provided by two producers, and ASTM A1035 steel, were exposed to chlorides are compared both to one another and to data for black bar reinforced specimens. Times for corrosion initiation and for subsequent damage propagation to a point where maintenance intervention is required are projected.  Application of the findings to service life of actual reinforced concrete structures is discussed.
