A new 3Cr-W super-bainitic steel was developed with creep properties superior to 9Cr steels, enabling use at higher temperature than typical 1-2%Cr steels.  However, with only 3Cr, this material may experience corrosion problems when oxidized at higher (600°-650°C) temperatures.  Both fire-side and steam-side corrosion is being investigated as well as potential coating solutions for this material.
