Historical failure data of pipelines documented the elemental sulfur corrosion rate could be as high as several thousands mils per year (MPY). Many laboratory data supported the failure data. This study is to find out a mitigation strategy of elemental sulfur corrosion of carbon steel. This paper intended to study the interaction of sulfur solvent and corrosivity of the mixture of the suspended sulfur and chemical solvent. The finding of this study helped the development of the elemental sulfur corrosion inhibition strategy.
