High-temperature corrosion - by its very nature - presents a challenge to designers and operators alike. Longevity of service is dictated by the surrounding environment combined with particular circumstances (or limitations) that influence performance - sometimes catastrophically - where premature failure can result from unexpected, or sometimes unintended events. This paper highlights the challenges for materials application at high temperature using real-world examples from various industrial applications.
